The Concord, Deep Space

1 Day Earlier

In the outer planet colonies, the rumor mill is filled with tales of our galaxy’s beginnings, with most of them carrying only a hint of fact. 1 of my favorites is about the collapse of the great Torrian Alliance. They say that no 1 has ever looked a star-child in the eyes and lived. I carry the honor of knowing that this supposed truth is fuller of sheat than that of a baby’s diaper after taking its fill of mother’s breast milk.

Well, I saw 1, and I’m still alive. And she was no murderer of men, nor pariah of innocent worlds that others spoke of. In fact, she was the total opposite. She was beautiful and soft and dainty. Not like the lies. Not like the horrors, they spat. There was nothing dark about her. Nothing ominous.

In fact, she was the perfect contradiction of such stories, and I should know. I spiritually stood beside her, hand in hand, elbows locked as we focused every effort on uniting the planets and fighting for the freedom of Fabricius and saving the entire galaxy from utter destruction at the hands of a Dagmas Clan madman – Dominic.

Dominic’s supposed civil war was merely the cover-up for a more heinous scheme. His plans to overload Proxima Centauri’s twin stars Mira A and B by forcing them into a Supernova for reasons unknown barely skimmed the surface of his maniacal mind. To this day, only 1 person truly knows Dominic’s lineage, along with purpose, and she is now memorialized in the destiny of our galaxy as we know it. If it wasn’t for Sarah reigniting and merging Mira A and B, none of us would be here now. Fate is not without its fair share of irony as the same being that was believed to bring death, offered only life in return.

Prince William ended up marrying his true love, the star-child known as Sydney, and subsequently inherited the throne of Fabricius, leading the Torrians into a new era of hope and peace. And with that, the capital city of Ontarius flourished more than ever and everyone lived happily ever after. Or so it seemed. Not everyone came out on top. I lost an eye and before that, a king.

I was sanctioned to protect King Gregorio during the birth of the Dagmas revolution. They used the spiking Solar Flares of Mira A as a diversion to overtake the city once the power failed. And when the lights went out, any chance of harmony went with it. But the Royals were prepared, hiring a spy to safely escort him from the planet to a neutral hidden base – the Moon of Xerius – where ships would rally to the cause.

But as usual, everything went south, and I ended up with blood on my hands and an anvil of guilt on my shoulders. To a spy, there was only 1 thing worse than guilt – fear. As members of the Spy Guild, you’re taught to not purge your fear but to use it as an ally.
